Complete testing at the Mechanical Rough-In Phase
The Mechanical Rough-in Stage is essential for conducting your duct blast test. Performing duct blast testing during the rough-in phase is 99% more effective than at the Mechanical Final Stage. This is because the ductwork is exposed, allowing you to easily identify leaks using a simple smoke test. Once the walls are closed, the chances of finding leaks within a sealed wall are extremely low. Conducting this test early is advantageous if your ducts will be concealed. If your ducts are located in an attic, keep in mind that attic insulation may obscure leaks that the tester might not detect.
